Why we’re getting behind Ruth Edge and London 2012.

We are delighted to announce that we are now supporting local equestrian, Ruth Edge as she attempts to qualify for the London 2012 Olympic Games.

Following the appointment of BMW Group as the Official Automotive Partner of the London 2012 Games, BMW is now actively supporting British athletes, such as Ellie Simmonds and Louis Smith, via the BMW London 2012 Performance Team. Meanwhile, in line with the Performance Team initiative, BMW dealers like us will be working with local athletes, supporting their endeavours to qualify for Team GB or ParalympicsGB.

Ruth Edge trains locally, in Heads Nook. Hammersmith born Ruth Edge has been riding since she could walk and at just 31 has already won the British Open title three times, the Luhmuhlen 4 star and was selected as a reserve for the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.

"I am really grateful to Lloyd Carlisle and BMW for their support," said Ruth Edge. "It's tough trying to qualify for an Olympic place and it's a big help knowing that they are behind us, helping to raise funds and awareness. It's also fantastic having a brand new BMW 330d M Sport Touring from now until the end of the 2012 Games. There's a lot of travelling to competitions and promotional events so it's great being able to arrive there in style."
